“Knowing and fulfilling your purpose is the only way to do what is right” – Myles Munroe
God does not do anything on a whim. You are not on earth by accident. God put you here for a purpose. You have to discover that purpose and fulfill it. Perhaps you have failed in your journey to purpose discovery and fulfillment, you can begin again.
Purpose is the essence of who we are and what makes us unique. Life purpose is the reason you are on earth. It gives life meaning, vision, direction, and energy. It is through purpose you see who you are now and what you can be.
Your life purpose is God’s vision for your life without which you have no genuine identity.
God’s common purpose for humanity is to love Him and add value to His Kingdom; and love others and make the world around us better. Apart from the common purpose, every individual has a unique purpose for his life.
Tips to discovering and fulfilling your life purpose
1. Relationship: It all begins with relationships. God who created you the way you are either female or male, born to a poor or a rich family, created you for a purpose. You need a relationship with Him. Intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ is a catalyst for fulfilling purpose. Life is about partnership. Your first partnership should be with your Creator. Also, partner with people of great ideas and vision.
2. Revelation (Habakkuk 2:1-2): Without a relationship with the originator of life (Jesus) insight will not come. Divine revelation may be received through prayer or diligent study of the Word of God. It reveals to you who you are and why you are here.
3. Faith (Hebrew 11:1): Faith in God expressed in obedience to His word is the great principle for the realization of human life. It is a volitional surrender to God’s leading despite appearance. Faith is not merely an attitude of mind; it is energy that drives and accomplishes.
4. Wisdom (Prov. 4:6-7): Wisdom is the principal thing. What differentiates failure from achievement is wisdom. Wisdom promotes.
5. Catch the vision. Dream the right dream and dream big. Think big but not in competition with anyone. Put all your talents and potentials to work as your run with your vision.
6. Build godly character.
7. Maximize every opportunity. Begin with the little you have. Have a mentor.
Remember, you must discover and fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Use all within and around you to make the world better by adding earthly and eternal value to your life, people around you and God’s Kingdom.
