“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”
– Jeremiah 32:27
[bigletter]In a world full of quick fixes and “do it yourself” tactics, it is so easy for a child of God to fall into the trap of self-reliance and leave God out of their lives, especially their love lives. The Bible tells us that the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). Many Christian singles today have resorted to using worldly means to “grab” a spouse, forgetting that all they need is in our all-sufficient God.[/bigletter]
Some of the ungodly ways used today to secure marriage include: attending ungodly functions, courting unbelievers, accepting proposals, or making marriage propositions to anyone that seems “okay” in the church. Some even move from one church to another to get a spouse, and this is often common with ladies. Unfortunately, one of the most common methods being used is dressing “sexy” to “attract” good husbands.
My dear sister, my dear brother, have you forgotten that every good and perfect gift comes from above, from our Heavenly Father (James 1:17)? Do you think you who did not create yourself can successfully find a Godly spouse without the guidance of Him who knitted you together in your mother’s womb? Surely not!
What are you expecting to attract? A man of vision? A Spirit-filled man? A God-fearing man? A woman who loves God and will be a helpmeet?
Changing your dressing from modesty to sexy will not make things better. Yes, people say that desperate times require desperate measures, but that does not apply to you. Why? Because your Heavenly Father is in control of everything and has the best for you. Matthew 6:31-33 shows us it is pagans who run after these things and we should not be that way. Why worry about age passing you by? Why make that dress tighter? Why is your skirt getting shorter? Why is your shirt becoming super tight? Who are you showing your abs? Why?
On the other hand, being Christians does not mean we should not have proper dress etiquette. We must do everything in moderation and in a manner that glorifies God. Let us not forget the spiritual implication of how we dress. Most often, you will be addressed as you dress. Worse still, you may attract demonic spirits such as the spirit of lust and spiritual spouses. You might think I am being religious or fanatical, but this is the REAL TRUTH. We live in a spiritual world, no matter how much we don’t want to believe it.
Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
So, my brother and sister, your spouse will come, in Jesus’ name. Submit yourself to God, lay your fear at His feet, let Him guide you to your rightful husband or wife. He cares for you and is aware of how anxious you are; He is aware of the pressures around you and is telling you,
“Be still” (Psalm 46:10).
He is telling you, “Cast your cares upon me” (1 Peter 5:7).
He is saying, “I shall supply all your needs according to my riches in glory” (Philippians 4:19).
You need not lower your standards as a child of God to “catch” your spouse.
That only undermines the power and plans of the one who placed you on this earth. He did it for those that came before you. He will do yours too.
Instead of dressing to kill and attract your spouse, seek God with all your heart on the matter and He will show you great and mighty things you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3). He will make your heart ready and filled with His joy and peace (Philippians 4:6-7). You shall dance your dance and sing your song of marital victory, in Jesus’ name. Remember, you are not of the world, therefore, the world’s methods of finding a good spouse do not apply to you. Trust only God and you shall have the last laugh. Stay limitless.
