Your stories fascinate me
They engage my willing mind
But the onus is upon you
To embed treasure for me to find
Give me a story that will move me
Draw me in from start to end
A sequence that intrigues me
That speaks as I comprehend
I don’t really care for bland facts
Of what is and what’s not
I want to be taken on an adventure
Through your story’s plot
Take me to the lows
Take me to the highs
Then delight me with
Metaphorical surprise
It’s a great story
And I appreciate this
But I also want to be blown away
By your plot twist
Link me back to the beginning
when I get to the end
I want satisfaction
From every line you’ve penned
I want to feel the emotions
Intense and raw
To admire the characters’ virtues
And cringe at their flaws
There is so much
To demonstrate
So many ways you can
Make it resonate
Yet I don’t want
Mere entertainment
I need truth that frees me
From enslavement
Your story will cause
Great delight
But beyond that I need
Fresh insight
I need to see beyond my base desire
How to holy living I can aspire
How my life can be a blessing
How to live in real faith without guessing
I need to get up to the next floor
Your story can help open the door
As step by step of faith I climb
To virtues of Christlikeness sublime
You see the only way to the next level
Is to triumph by faith over evil
Let your story take me up to the next story:
It’s Christ in us the hope of glory
For your story must be His story
Scenes that reflect the Father’s glory
Truths that extend beyond mere facts
A modern-day extension of the book of Acts
So soldier-servants draw your swords
Tell His story to exalt our Lord
Write with precision, express with skill
Execute for His kingdom; do God’s will
Tell it to the best of your ability
Serve with commitment and humility
Do this to honor Christ our Lord
From Him alone comes your reward
Recognize that you’re
On a mission
Sanctified saved souls
Are the vision
Create acts with excellence
Craft scenes with passion
Every story for God’s glorious
Kingdom expansion
Your stories fascinate me
They engage my willing mind
But the onus is upon you
To embed treasure for me to find
