Mark 11:12-14, 20, 21
[bigletter]May you fulfill the purpose for which God has created you. I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will not be disappointed over your life. May your life be fruitful.[/bigletter]
The fruitless tree in Mark 11 is a parable. It had all the evidence of the faithfulness of God. Its leaves were green because it was being nurtured. It had sunlight, fresh air, rain, and nutrients from the soil. However, all that was wasted investment. When Jesus was hungry and came to the tree expecting fruit, he only found leaves.
The question is, “How fruitful are you?”
You have been given the most precious gift of all, the salvation of your soul. God has bestowed His favor and grace on you. He is providing for you, prospering you, giving you good health, taking care of your children, your business, your job, your ministry. You are looking green and prosperous just like that tree.
Since there is the appearance of live, the expectation is that there will be fruitfulness. In fact, the tree was being nurtured for a reason; to bring forth fruit. So, Jesus approached the tree looking for fruit. Unfortunately, the tree failed to fulfil its purpose. The tree took up space, got nourishment, had green leaves but all in vain. What a wasted investment!
God has bestowed his blessings on you and now he is asking you for the fruit of service. He has given you an assignment. He expects fruit from you. The Lord gives the leaves, and you are supposed to give Him fruit in return. The presence of grace is the ability to serve. That is why Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15: 10, “But by the grace of God I am what I am. And his grace towards me was not in vain. But I labored more abundantly than them all.”
I challenge you today. Do not be like the fruitless tree. Do not waste God’s grace. Do not hide God’s gift. Do not submerge God’s calling. No more excuses. Enough of procrastination. Just like Jesus expected fruit from that tree, so also does He expect fruit from you. I admonish you not to take the grace of God in vain.
Do not be like that tree which had an appearance of life but had no fruit.
Some people have given their lives to Christ for a long time, but their generation has never felt their impact. Some have been saved for 20 or more years, but heaven has not felt their presence on earth. They are not profitable. Instead, they have been liability to the Kingdom of God. May that not be your case in Jesus name. But if that is your story, you can ask God to help you. You can change your story today.
Remember that the salvation of your soul is only the first step. It should not be your only goal. Your service to Christ is the second step. That is the way to fulfil God’s divine purpose. It is not enough to be a Christian. You are a child of God for a purpose. The blessings of God upon your life are given to you for a reason.
Talking about fulfilling one’s purpose, the fruitless tree failed to meet Jesus’ expectations. It was then cursed and disconnected from its source of nourishment. As you can see from this proverb, fruitlessness provokes God’s anger. It produces a curse.
May the blessings of God upon your life not turn to a curse in the name of Jesus. May every investment by the Kingdom of God upon your life yield result. Every vision and idea that God has put in your heart, you will fulfill. May every gift that God has blessed you with begin to find expression. You shall not be slowed down, stagnated, caged, or crippled in the mighty name of Jesus. May your eyes be opened to see different areas where you can be useful in the mighty name of Jesus.
The hand of the Lord shall keep you and cause you to be fruitful. The glory of the Lord shall sustain you. The blessings of this season of abundant harvest belongs to you in Jesus’ name. Go and fulfill God’s purpose for your life. Go and be fruitful.

August 29, 2022This is powerful. More grace sir and thanks for leading the cause of the gospel admirably and consistently. May we not waste God’s investment in our lives as the joy of eternity in God that being alive in God promises can not be compared to anything the world offers!
