Psalm 91
Verse 1: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
To enjoy God’s grace, you must dwell in the secret place of the Most High God.
The secret place is in His presence.
When you dwell in His presence, He overshadows and protects you. That is where you receive strength; victory to overcome every power of darkness, to overcome the devil and his agents that are already in the world ready to do havoc.
Verse 2: “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in Him will I trust.”
Do not be distracted, stay in His presence. Do not let the problems and difficulties in the world take you away from the Lord’s presence. However difficult the storm may be, like it happened to Peter on the sea, do not take your eyes off Jesus. Focus on Him because He is your refuge.
Verses 3-4: “Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers and under His wings shalt thou trust. His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
For a fact, He will fulfil His promise to deliver you from pestilence and all types of evil.
The Word of God will be our shield and buckler. The Lord will deliver us from every snare of the devil that is in the world. The secret place is the place of power, the place of victory.
Verse 5-7: “Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night nor the arrow that flieth by day. Nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that wasteth at noon day. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.”
There are terrors and powers of darkness moving in the night to destroy. He said that all the arrows that fly by the day shall not harm you. However thick the terror may be, do not be afraid. Even when evil is befalling many people around, you will walk in safety and dwell in full assurance of protection in His presence.
Verse 8: “Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.’
It will not be our portion. Why would you only see the wicked punished? Why will you not be a partaker of the evil of this world? It is found in verse 9.
Verse 9: “Because thou hast made the Lord who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy dwelling place.”
That is the word of God; trustworthy, full of assurance. You have to play your part by making Him your hiding place, your habitation; by spending time with Him.
Verse 14: “Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.”
When you set your love upon God, He protects and delivers you from the evil one. He elevates you when you know His name.
As a matter of urgency, seek His face, dwell in His presence to know Him more. The more you know Him, the more you will love Him.
